Cancellation Policy Notice

At The Dog Shop, we strive to provide the best care for your beloved pets and appreciate your understanding of our cancellation policy, which helps us manage our schedule and serve all our clients effectively. Starting 2025 we will be adhering strictly to this policy.

Cancellation Policy:

  • 24-Hour Notice: We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. This allows us to offer the time slot to other clients who may be waiting.

  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment may incur a cancellation fee of 50%. This fee helps us cover the time reserved for your pet.

  • No-Shows: If you do not show up for your appointment and fail to inform us, a no-show fee of 100% will be applied to your account and need to be paid before we book another appointment.

  • Repeated Cancellations: Clients who repeatedly cancel or reschedule appointments may be required to pay in advance and leave a card on file for future services or have their appointments reviewed.

We understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can occur. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule, and we will do our best to accommodate your situation.

The Dog Shop Policies


If you leave your dog here for any service, you are agreeing to The Dog Shop policies.

  1. The Dog Shop requires proof of rabies vaccinations for all clients, including walk-in clients. It is your responsibility to email/upload/bring them to us. We will not do this for you! This includes all walk-in clients.

  2. All our listed prices are a starting point. During your consultation you can ask for a more exact price, but if we need to add a service during your dog's visit it will be applied, and you will be informed at pickup and the charge will be applied at the time of pickup.

  3. We charge $25 for picking your dog up after we close.

  4. We charge a $150 boarding fee PER DAY for leaving your dog at The Dog Shop after one-hour of closing. Your dog will go home with an employee and be available to you the next business day.

  5. DAYCARE FEE: Most appointments last around 3 hours, depending on how long it takes your dog's coat to dry, although it may take until the end of the workday. Our automated system will send a message 15 minutes before your dog is ready for pickup which will give 45 minutes for pickup unless previously agreed upon. Every 15 min after your 45-minute window will have an Automatic fee of $5.00. This same fee is also valid for dropping your pet off prior to your scheduled appointment time.

  6. We charge a late cancel fee for less than 24 hours' notice of 50% of total service to be reflected on your next appointment

  7. We charge a no-show fee for not showing up for a scheduled appointment of 100% of total service to be reflected on your next appointment

  8. We do not offer free-range grooming. For the safety of your pet + our staff, all client dogs will be kept safe + comfortable in a kennel.

  9. Comfort over vanity. We will not brush out an extremely matted dog. It is inhumane + very painful for your pet. If you don’t keep up with brushing +/or regular grooming appointments, we will shave your dog.

  10. We do groomer consultations at every drop-off. It is your responsibility to let us know of any important changes in the health of your pet. We promise to let you know if/when we notice anything (moles, skin issues, lumps, etc) on your pet while they are in our care.

  11. We will send any dog home that is showing signs of aggression or unsafe health issues.

  12. Please be on time to your appointment! If you are more than 15 minutes late, we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment.

  13. We love old dogs! In fact, most of our staff currently has at least one elderly dog. That being said, we will do our absolute best to provide comfort grooming to your elderly pet. We choose comfort over vanity in all cases involving elderly pets. If your pet is unable to stand, we will do what we can but cannot guarantee the most beautiful haircut or that he/she will be dried all the way. We will do our best and there is not a discount unless we are unable to do anything.

  14. You will be charged $10 if we need to use flea shampoo on your pet. It is an automatic charge if your dog has fleas.

  15. We now offer a 2-hour express service for $25 that is only available in 8am our morning appointments.

  16. If We have to use a muzzle on your dog, there will be an automatic fee of $10.

Emergencies:  In the event of an emergency I authorize The Dog Shop to immediately seek professional veterinarian attention at my expense.  I understand that all attempts will be made to contact me in the event of an emergency. I also understand that if my pets coat is matted this establishment is not responsible for my pets skin. 

Coat Condition:  I understand that The Dog Shop puts my pets comfort above all else.  Severe matting or brushing can cause areas of dermatitis, irritation, brush-burn, nicks and cuts.  In the event that my pet's coat is matted, I understand that the groomer may have to shave the matts out rather than perform a painful dematting procedure. I also understand that if my pet is severely matted, that there is an increased risk of clipper burns or cuts to occur. I understand that attempts will be made to prevent this, however in some extreme cases it is unavoidable. I also understand that matted pets take additional time to groom so there will be an additional fee added on to the regular grooming price if my pet's coat is matted.

Health: I understand that grooming can be stressful to some pets and I will inform my groomer if my pet has any heart conditions or any stress related issues prior to grooming. I also understand that it is necessary to have my pet up to date on all vaccines prior to grooming to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases. I will provide my groomer with a copy of my rabies vaccine paperwork.  

Cancellations:  I understand that if I need to change my appointment time or to cancel it, I must give at least a 24 hour notice so that the appointment time can be made to another client who is on the waiting list. If two appointments are missed without giving notice, I will be required to pre-pay to schedule any further appointments. 

Adverse Behavior:  If my pet is aggressive and/ or excitable I understand that the behavior may create occupational and safety issues for the groomer as well as potential risk to the pets welfare. If this behavior occurs I give consent to The Dog Shop to restrain or muzzle my pet during the grooming if it is deemed necessary.  While it is understood that my groomer will exercise extreme caution while my pet is being groomed, I understand that in the unlikely event that my pet should flinch or lunge at the wrong moment a cut may occur. If my pet requires veterinary attention, I authorize The Dog Shop to immediately seek professional veterinarian attention at my expense.  I understand that all attempts will be made to contact me in the event of an emergency. 

Unsatisfied Grooming:  If the grooming is deemed unsatisfactory, the person picking up the pet will be responsible for notifying the staff before the pet leaves our building. The repair, if possible, will be done within two working days of the initial grooming. Here at The Dog Shop, we take great pride in our work and will always take time to correct anything about your pet's groom that you are unsatisfied with if we are able.
